SIMPLE DIY Mask for Oily Skin

Oily skin can be quite problematic in hot weather because oily and greasy skin tends to catch dirt and dust all the time. The skin therefore becomes acne prone because of excess accumulation of dirt and oil. There are some DIY (Do It Yourself) procedures which is easy to follow and very effective on skin.

Banana Face Mask:
1 fully ripe banana, 1 tablespoon honey and an orange or a lemon should be taken. Ripe bananas can be kept in the freezer for preservation. Before using them, they should be thawed at first.   Either they can be mashed up or be blended. Then it was mixed with lemon or orange. Then the mask should be applied on to skin for 15 minutes. Then a soft cloth should be used to remove the mask and moisture the skin.

Tomatoes Face Masks:
Tomatoes facial masks are very useful to manage oily skin, as they help in dissolving extra oil and at the same time work to reduce size of large looking pores. It has natural astringent that makes it a perfect choice for greasy and over shiny skin. The simplest form of a tomato face mask is to just mash a tomato and apply on oily face area for about 15 minutes. If this mask is used for 1-3 days per week then the skin will become healthy, flawless and even-toned by removing the scar marks.

Oatmeal, Lemon Juice and Honey Facial Mask:
Organic oatmeal, lemon juice and honey are mixed altogether. Then the mixture is ready to be applied on to skin. Application can be done more on or around the area of the eyes. Then it can be kept for 10 minutes and rinse it off with water. Usage of warm water is beneficial in this case. This mask is required to keep the skin fresh and less oily. it is better to use once a day to have a refreshing skin tone and soft surface.

Vitamin C Mask:

Vitamin C provides protective effects by increasing the collagen levels in our body. The simplest and cost effective Vitamin C mask is to mix a table of Vitamin C with water and apply it onto our face. The mask is very refreshing and you can see the firmer skin effect after 1 to 2 applications.

My favorite Vitamin C is of course Shaklee Sustained Release Vita C Plus 😄

Why Do I Love Vitamin C

I started to take my Shaklee Sustained Release Vitamin C diligently since 2016 after I had a horrible dry and dull skin. It's one of my MUST TAKE supplements everyday haha.

WHY Vitamin C?

Vitamin C is scientifically known as L-Ascorbic Acid and Ascorbic Acid. Humans do not possess the capacity of synthesizing vitamin C inside the body and take them as dietary supplements. It is generally found in various food items, fruits and dietary supplements. It is a vital nutrient in the repairmen of the tissue. The two major parts of the skin-dermis and epidermis; contain the highest amount of vitamin C. Being one of the most vital nutrients of the body, vitamin C provides us with various protective functions to our skin.

Dry Skin: If an optimum amount of vitamin C is ingested on a regular basis, then the probability of having dry skin is reduced. Addition of vitamin C enhances the synthesis of lipids in cell membranes and makes the cell surface smooth. It ultimately reduces the dryness and roughness of the skin.

Treatment of Wounds and Infections: Vitamin C is widely used in wounded regions of the skin. On wounded areas, the presence of vitamin C reduces the production of free radical. Free radicals make the process of healing complicated. So, reduction of free radicals by vitamin C helps in enhancing the process of healing of the particular region. Vitamin C also contributes by increasing the differentiation of keratinocytes and re-establishing the stratum cornium. For treating burns, skin sores and diseases like scurvies are often treated with topical agents of vitamin C.

UV-Ray Protection: Vitamin C protects the skin tissue from the free radical damage. It has keratinocytes in its transport proteins which indicate the uptake of vitamin C when it requires necessary protection from the UV-Ray. It also prevents the DNA damage.

Photo Damage Protection: In damaged skin, vitamin C provides protective effects by increasing the collagen levels by producing the proteins required for collagen.  Vitamin C also delays the decay of fibroblasts which is enhanced during aging. Studies have indicated that the topical application of vitamin C for 12 weeks has reduced wrinkling and roughness of skin.

According to the U.S. Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine, the daily intake of vitamin C for more than 18 years old is- 90mg for men, 75 mg for women, 85 mg for pregnant women and 120 mg for breastfeeding women. The highest amount of vitamin C should not exceed 2000mg daily for both men and women.

Why do I love Shaklee SR Vita C?

Because it releases only 100 mg of vitamin C every hour (the amount that can be absorbed by our body). So, 1 tablet of Vita C can last for 5 hours 😉. And Shaklee SR Vita C contains 180 tablets in a bottle which can last for almost 6 months! The cost? Less than RM100 per bottle hehe.
