Peace!
We sent Jayden to Little Caterpillar when he was 1 year 11 months. We chose a Montessori type of school (playbased) so that he can learn while playing. Both me and Jeremy didn't want a too structured class for him since he is still very young to have a serious learning lol. We believe that PLAY is their best way of learning when kids are below 3 yo. He picked up words very fast and teachers told me he's a fast learner. Little Caterpillar was our first choice because it is a Montessori playschool and the nearest playschool from our home, easier for us to send him and pick him up after school.
Yea, many told me not to send too early because kesian him. But he learnt nothing other than fighting with other kids at babysitter's house so we decided to send him off to playschool when he was very young. At least he learn something, he can start to socialize with friends, he can start listening to instructions and HAVE FUN!
He fell sick quite frequently when he started his playschool session but we handled it positively. It was a bit hard at the beginning because me and Jeremy had to take leave to take care of him when he fell sick. But after few months, he became stronger =). If I was given a chance again, I prefer to choose a center with less children haha. You can check out the Tots Playgroup class offered by Baby Jay Playhouse. I will put their playgroup info at the end of this blogpost.
First day at school in 2017
I couldn't find his 2 yo pictures but the above were his first day at playschool when he was 3 yo. No drama, no crying and he's a tough boy.
With his best friend, Li Yang
We love Little Caterpillar very much! 💗
Happy Mother's Day
Field Trip!
This year, Jayden is 4 yo. So, we decided to enroll him at Tadika Gloria, a more academic oriented school so that he can start reading and writing. He is very very very super duper lazy to write and color. He can color the whole drawing with just 1 color because he wants to finish up his 'artwork' fast. -.-"
After considering so many schools in Bintulu, we chose Tadika Gloria. It is similar like a school environment. No toys (teacher will only take out the toys when it is their play time) and they have to sit at their own table and chair everyday. Maybe it was a little bit difficult for him to adapt to the new environment (totally different from his previous playschool) but I guess he's doing fine there. He needs to know 'Nothing comes easily in life' 😆
His books and timetable! haha
During the first two weeks at Tadika Gloria, he brought back his unfinished work almost everyday as homework -.-"
"Whattt?? Homework again?"
Yea, when he was asked to write, he told his teacher "I am so tired" lol
It was a struggled to ask him to write. So my task is to guide him and teach him everyday after school. Now, I love my job as a housewife lol. 😋
AFTER 3 WEEKS...
Last week, he came back from school and told me he finished up his writing at school. I was like "WOW, seriously? hmm"
Yep, he has no homework. Haha.
And he told me he wanted to write A B C D. Now, that's even weird.
He took his book and pencil case, sat down on his writing table and start writing A then B then C then D. I was shocked!
Good job my Shaklee boy =)
But halfway through, he asked for his Shaklee Vitalea for Children because he's tired. Lol. I gave him his supplement and he continued writing. Haha.
So much improvements and I am a happy mommy now.
JUMP! JUMP! JUMP!
He is now studying at a more academic oriented preschool and joining Tots Play & Little Explorers during the weekends at Baby Jay Playhouse. Find out more about their packages at their FB page.
This is the Tots Playgroup that they are offering. Most importantly SMALL PLAYGROUP! =)
My very personal opinion:
Children below 3 - go for a playbased playschool because what we want is for them to learn how to socialize with other children and to train their motor skills with their creative minds. Unless you are a housewife then you can have your own homeschooling =) (babysitter don't offer homeschooling though 😐)
At the age of 4, they should start a more structured way of learning so that they can start writing and reading. It will be easier for them to adapt to the studying environment when they are 7 yo. Choose the right school so that you don't have to spend extra for tuition.
Bring your children for extra classes like learn-through-play weekend class, dancing class, art class during the weekends so that they don't feel so stress.
